Motor neurone disease care

Motor neurone disease (MND) can develop at any age and have a variety of symptoms, including loss of strength, difficulty swallowing, speech problems, and mobility issues.

As a result of its progressive nature, your needs will likely change over time. Our priority is to tailor your care completely to you, to help you live life to the fullest.

We are experienced in supporting younger adults with a range of neurological conditions. Our live-in teams will take great care in getting to know you (your values, hobbies, and aspirations) as well as the details of your MND to personalise your care.

If your MND is part of a set of needs, making care requirements more complex, our Enable service has the skills and experience to support you.

As MND progresses, you may find that you require not only physical but also emotional support. Staying in your own home means staying near loved ones in a familiar setting and helps you to maintain a positive attitude and remain independent during some challenging times.

Working with your medical specialists, we will develop a plan to ensure you receive the correct treatment, whilst being able to live a full and active life.

People with MND may face difficult decisions such as considering a feeding or breathing tube. Your assistant, along with the wider Danielle & Daisy live-in team, will work with you and your family to discuss your options and find the best solution.

All our care workers complete the nationally recognised care certificate. Specific client needs-led training is taught by our training partner and healthcare professionals.
